Moleculera Labs operates a fully accredited, high-complexity, clinical laboratory that provides next-generation antibody tests that detect whether an immune-mediated response may be triggering neurologic (i.e., abnormal movements, seizures, tics) and/or psychiatric symptoms. We are a precision medicine company dedicated to helping clinicians identify the underlying autoimmune etiology of neurologic, psychiatric and behavioral disorders.
Our Test
Four (4) tests measure the levels of circulating autoantibodies in serum that are directed against, and bind to or block, specific neuronal targets in the brain. (Each target is associated with the presence of certain neurologic (i.e., seizures, involuntary movements) and/or psychiatric symptoms.
The fifth test, calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II (CaMKII), measures the ability of a patient’s autoantibodies to stimulate this enzyme, resulting in an upregulation (or increase) of brain neurotransmitters such as dopamine, epinephrine and norepinephrine.
This cell stimulation assay involves growing human brain cells in culture and incubating the patient’s serum on these cells to determine if autoantibodies that are present bind to and stimulate this enzyme.
The targets in the Cunningham Panel™ (Autoimmune Encephalopathy and Basal Ganglia Encephalitis Panel) are based on over 20 years of research and have been utilized by more than 2,000 clinicians worldwide with over 16,000 patients tested.
Who Can Order
The Cunningham Panel™ of tests requires a clinician order before we can receive and process any specimen. Moleculera Labs can accept authorized clinician test orders from all 50 states in the United States and other countries. (New York patients must have their blood collected outside the State of New York.)

We are authorized to receive physician test orders from all 50 states in the U.S. (Note: Practitioners in New York State may order the Cunningham Panel™ for their patients, but specimens must be collected at a facility outside the State of New York.) Moleculera Labs has partner laboratories and practitioners in Europe, Poland, U.K, and Ukraine.
